H.R.2 - Secure the Border Act of 2023: This bill makes various changes to immigration law, including by imposing limits on asylum eligibility and requiring employers to use an electronic system to verify the employment eligibility of new employees. H.R.2640 - Border Reinforcement Act of 2023: This extreme anti-immigrant bill would bar DHS funding for humanitarian organizations and faith-based NGOs that provide assistance to people seeking asylum, resume building the Trump border wall, double the number of Border Patrol agents, and strip funding for programs that support reception and alternatives to detention (SSP and CMPP funding).
