Encouraged Congress to modernize the Agricultural Foreign Investment Disclosure Act before banning certain foreign entities from investing in the U.S. ASKED TO SUPPORT THE FOLLOWING: - H.R.9456, the Protecting American Agriculture from Foreign Adversaries Act, which would add the USDA Secretary to CFIUS and require them to report certain transactions involving certain countries or their citizens to CFIUS. NEUTRAL/MONITORED BUT NOT LOBBIED BILLS: - S.168/H.R.683, the Promoting Agriculture Safeguards and Security (PASS) Act, which would prohibit persons who are acting on behalf of China, Russia, Iran, or North Korea from purchasing or investing in U.S. agricultural land and companies.
Referred to the Committee on Financial Services, and in addition to the Committees on Foreign Affairs, and Energy and Commerce, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.
