Encouraging additional Members of the House to become cosponsors of HR 3564 The Nuclear First-Strike Security Act of 2025, which would require the Secretary of Defense to nofify key Congressional leaders of Presidential decision to use nuclear weapons prior to that use (with certain exceptions, including a nuclear attack against the United States or an ally, a Congressional declaration of war, or warning of a nuclear attack in progress). I also discussed inclusion of similar or related provisions in the National Defense Authorization Act, and some discussion of the international implications of resumed U.S. nuclear explosive testing.
Referred to the Committee on Foreign Affairs, and in addition to the Committee on Armed Services, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.
