The IBEW supported the Medicare Prescription Drug Savings and Choice Act of 2004 and urged signing of the Discharge Petition filed to move this legislation to the House Floor. The bill would require the federal government to use its purchasing power to negotiate real discounts on prescription medicine for seniors and people with disabilities. This bill would establish a Medicare plan in every part of the country so all seniors would have the choice to get their drugs from Medicare instead of HMOs or private insurance companies, and it would bring prescription drug costs under control. Bill Ref. H.R. 3767; S. 2714 Discharge Petition no. 9. [Ltr. 7/14/04]
