Continued effort to expand understanding/recognition of tribal sovereignty and the federal trust responsibility to federally recognized Indian tribes and the Tribal Colleges and Universities they charter. Seeking to retain existing and establish new federal opportunities to increase the capacity of TCUs better serve their students and communities. Ongoing conversations regarding TCUs vital role in educating/training the AI/AN workforce and expanding job opportunities, and achieving the national college completion goal; securing TCU eligibility and participation in federally funded programs that are open to institutions of higher education; and Native language/culture preservation/revitalization programs. Continued conversations of the impact, if any, of the RAISE Act (S. 2580) on TCUs. The bill would disband the BIE and immediately establish a new Indian Education Agency, on Tribal K-12 education.
