Generally supported federal biofuel programs. Encouraged introduction of legislative reforms to the Renewable Fuel Standards (RFS) that help develop cellulosic feedstocks for use in distillate fuel markets and increase supplies of biomass-based diesel fuels in the Northeast. This includes legislation to expand the definition of renewable biomass (S.1614) and reform advance biofuels pathways (S.3986). NEFI opposed use of Small Refinery Exemptions from the Renewable Fuels Standard. It also supported the RFS Integrity Act (H.R.3006 and S.1840), the Clean Fuels Deployment Act (H.R.6671), and pandemic-related financial assistance for biofuel producers and feedstock growers, including Section 60305 of the House-passed HEROES Act (H.R.6800), Section 305 the second HEROES Act (H.R.8406), and the Renewable Fuel Feedstock Reimbursement Act (S.3756).
