Womens Health Protection Act (H.R.3755 / S.1975 ) This bill would protect a persons ability to determine whether to continue or end a pregnancy, and to protect a health care providers ability to provide abortion services. It includes provisions to allow Congress to stop state-level abortion bans and other onerous and medically unnecessary requirements placed on patients, physicians, and service providers. The Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Act (H.R.1667 /S.610) This bill establishes grants and requires other activities to improve mental and behavioral health among health care providers. Specifically, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) must award grants to hospitals, medical professional associations, and other health care entities for programs to promote mental health and resiliency among health care providers. In addition, HHS may award grants for relevant mental and behavioral health training for health care students, residents, or professionals. Additionally, HHS must conduct a campaign to encourage health care providers to seek support and treatment for mental and behavioral health concerns and disseminate best practices to prevent suicide and improve mental health and resiliency among health care providers. HHS must also study and develop policy recommendations on improving mental and behavioral health among health care providers, removing barriers to accessing care and treatment, and identifying strategies to promote resiliency. Ensuring Understanding of COVID-19 to Protect Public Health Act S.176 This bill would require the National Institutes of Health (NIH), in consultation with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), to conduct a nationwide, longitudinal study on the health impacts of COVID-19. Over the course of at least 10 years, the NIH and CDC would monitor the physical and mental health outcomes of a diverse group of COVID-19 patients and provide a regular summary of their findings to the public. The bill would also allow the NIH and CDC to utilize public-private partnerships to execute the study, leveraging private sector innovation to help build a safer and healthier world. Access to Infertility Treatment Act (H.R. 2803/S.1461) to require insurance coverage for infertility screening and treatment for those receiving coverage through their employer, insurance marketplace, Department of Defense or Veterans Affairs, and Medicaid. Hadassah spoke to congressional offices about expanding infertility awareness and education for policymakers. Champion Bipartisan Action on Infertility (H.Res. 338) Recognizing that infertility is a widespread problem that affects populations of diverse ages, races, ethnicities, and genders. Reproductive and infertility issues are all too common, but sadly, many American women and men continue to suffer in silence. Its time to re-think our approach to infertility - and for Members of Congress to have a better understanding of what this disease is and how it is caused, which communities are at an increased risk, and what should be done to reduce barriers to diagnoses and treatment. Urge your legislator to support actions that will expand Congressional support for better policies addressing infertility treatments and diagnoses. While some states have made steps towards expanding access to infertility treatment, solutions are needed at the federal level. Advocate for Womens Lung Cancer Prevention and Research (H.R. 1800 | S. 699) Women and Lung Cancer Research and Preventive Services Act. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States, claiming more lives than breast, colon and prostate cancers combined - even as the number of smokers declines year after year. Urge Congress to support the bipartisan Women and Lung Cancer Research and Preventive Services Act to improve scientific understanding and support early detection to save lives. The bipartisan Women and Lung Cancer Research and Preventive Services Act (H.R. 1800 | S. 699) would mandate an assessment of current research and prospects for interagency collaboration, recommendations for a national cancer screening strategy to expand access to early detection services, and opportunities for a national public awareness and education campaign. The Women Veterans and Families Health Services Act of 2019 (S. 319. The Women Veterans and Families Health Services Act would improve the reproductive assistance provided by the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs to severely wounded, ill, or injured members of the Armed Forces, veterans, and their spouses or partners, and for other purposes. This would build upon the upcoming study of infertility in the armed forces, which was authorized by Congress last year.
