The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (Public Law No: 117-2), legislation to provide additional relief to address the continued impact of COVID-19 on the economy, public health, state and local governments, individuals, and businesses. Request for additional funding to the Public Health and Social Services Emergency Fund. Request for medical liability protections for hospitals and providers responding to COVID pandemic. Request for regulatory relief for hospitals responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act (P .L. 116-136), legislation to respond to the COVID-19 outbreak and its impact on the economy, public health, state and local governments, individuals, and businesses. Request to quickly distribute the remaining funds in the Public Health and Social Services Emergency Fund in a manner that takes into account states, like Texas, that experienced a surge in COVID-19 cases after the June 10 cutoff date of the hotspot allocation. Request to cosponsor the Stopping Doctor Shortage Act (S.311: Cornyn/HR 1133: Harder/Castro/Taylor) - the Public Student Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) sought to encourage physicians to pursue careers in nonprofit and public service, especially in rural communities facing severe physician shortages, by forgiving federal student loans for physicians who have provided care in non-profit hospitals for ten years. This legislation closes a PSLF regulatory loophole and allows eligible doctors in Texas and California to receive federal student loan forgiveness. Request for members of the Congressional delegation to sign a Dear Colleague letter to the Department of Education asking for a regulatory fix that would allow physicians in California and Texas to participate in the PSLF. Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (HR 3684) - oppose extension of Medicare 2% sequestration cuts; support provisions providing funding for hospital infrastructure, strengthening the healthcare workforce, and expanding broadband internet services. Build Back Better Act (HR 5376) - support efforts to address the Medicaid coverage gap, improving maternal health services, making permanent the Children's Health Insurance Program and funding pandemic preparedness measures.
