CARES Act
2020 · fourth_quarter · Client: NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF WOMEN BUSINESS OWNERS
In the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act (S.3548), 501(c)(6) organizations were not included in the Paycheck Protection Program. However, a contingent of this group assist small businesses in navigating normal day-to-day operations and are especially critical in providing guidance during times of crisis. By including certain 501(c)(6) organizations while also prohibiting others, the spirit of the CARES Act remains intact. The forgiveness portion of the Paycheck Protection Program has not met small business standards for adequate guidance. NAWBO continues to request inclusion for 501(c)(6) organizations in the Paycheck Protection Program. In addition, they have requested from House and Senate leadership an extension of the EIDL program and expressed there support for allowing small businesses to deduct expenses that were paid for using PPP loans to help businesses remain open during the crisis.
