Ensuring that community development funding, LIHTC, and NMTC in infrastructure proposals are targeted in a manner to significantly reduce disproportionalities and disparities in various systems (csh.org/data)
Emails requesting legislative action to increase supportive housing as a solution to justice reform. People with behavioral health and substance use disorders need access to quality treatment not jail. When the police do get involved, they should know how and when to divert people away from the criminal justice system and into systems where helpful and healing services are provided. For those who need more intensive support, Supportive Housing is a proven solution. People with behavioral health and substance use disorders need access to quality treatment not incarceration or punishment. When the police do get involved, they should know how and when to divert people away from the criminal justice system and into systems where helpful and healing services are provided. For those who need more intensive support, Supportive Housing is a proven solution. We estimate that nationwide, rental assistance or housing needs for people with severe substance use and mental health issues is about 101,000 units ($960M in vouchers). Supportive services needs would be $1.1B each year. More data is available on our website and is broken down by state and special population. csh.org/data

Allocating community investment appropriations, Low income housing tax credit (LIHTC), and New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) using a Racial Disparities and Disproportionality Index in determining allocation of funding for local government in COVID-19 relief (csh.org/data)
Many older adults and people with severe disabilities shouldnt have to go into nursing homes during the COVID-19 emergency. Many already in nursing homes could be moved into private or supportive housing during the COVID-19 emergency. With the right mix of home and community based services, both of these scenarios can happen. Please make sure the next COVID-19 relief bill includes the following support for older adults and people with disabilities: 1.Indefinite extension of Money Follows the Person-MFP (CARES Act extension ends in November) will allow people in nursing homes to continue to get coverage for healthcare and other services if their families or the nursing home administrators remove them from the nursing home system and place them into noncongregate settings. 2.Emergency vouchers to allow older adults and people with disabilities with limited resources to move out of nursing homes and into private or supportive housing where they can be cared for safely. We recommend a set-aside for older adults in the amount of $2.1B in emergency vouchers; individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities, $2.1B in emergency vouchers. 3.Simplify access to FEMA disaster relief. Please add a provision that states that FEMA disaster relief funds may be used to acquire or renovate property for use as noncongregate shelter and healthcare facilities for people transitioning out of congregate settings with no place to go and that states and localities should prioritize these funds for this purpose. FEMAs process for getting the local public health officials and emergency coordinators approval for this activity is cumbersome and is based on the procedure it uses to deal with local natural disasters. COVID-19 is a national health emergency and the justification for noncongregate spaces and social distancing has already been provided by federal public health officials and the public health data. We know that many nursing homes will continue to have major issues despite the Administrations efforts to improve them during the pandemic. Give localities that are still COVID-19 hotspots the opportunity to get these people spaced apart before the Fall round of COVID-19 which is also influenza season-also deadly for this population.

Emails requesting legislative action to increase supportive housing in response to COVID-19 health emergency and economic recovery needs. Creation of 1.1 million supportive housing apartments would dramatically shift the way we address health, income, and racial disparities of the most vulnerable Americans in the midst of the countrys largest public health crisis in nearly a century. This effort would drive $400 billion in catalytic investments generating nearly 900,000 new construction and permanent jobs in housing management and human services.

4. Ensuring restorative justice budgets provide for adequate access to health care for returning citizens

This effort would drive $400 billion in catalytic investments generating nearly 900,000 new construction and permanent jobs in housing management and human services. advocated for housing choice vouchers
