Asking Members of Congress to urge the Postmaster General and the Board of Governors of the Postal Service not to raise postal rates higher than the rate of inflation, or CPI, which would negatively impact nonprofit fundraising by mail. Specifically, asking Congress to stop the postal rate increase, which is expected to be 6% to 8.5%, and keep future postal rate increases at a level no higher than the CPI. This pending rate increase is in addition to the 1.5% rate increase that took effect on January 24, 2021. If the pending increase is approved, it would result in a substantial increase in annual expenses to Special Olympics to maintain current mail volumes. To cover the increase, Special Olympics would need to make cuts in other areas, which would potentially result in an immediate reduction of services. Alternatively, Special Olympics could opt to decrease mail quantities, which would have long-term revenue implications and ultimately lead to reduced services for our community.

Consumer data privacy, from the perspective of nonprofits. As Americans are sharing more personal data and as the internet has enabled companies to collect more personal data, it is important to ensure that nonprofit organizations are ethical custodians of the data with which they are entrusted, and also that they have access to the information to enable them to further their missions. Specifically advocating for national privacy legislation, rather than nonprofits being subject to a "patchwork quilt" of varying and often contradictory state privacy laws which, together, would likely impose significant administrative and financial burdens on national nonprofits. Advocating for a law that includes a single, clear uniform set of national standards and guidelines, a clear preemption of current or future state privacy statutes to create national consistency of laws, a requirement that litigation of federal privacy legislation be filed only in federal court (and not state courts), which would create greater national uniformity of enforcement, and no Private Right of Action.

Children also learn to share, take turns and follow directions. These skills help children in family, community and school activities.)
