The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) lobbied to support a comprehensive direct investment in the United States transportation sector. This approach must be prioritized to meet the infrastructure needs of the United States, especially following the economic impact of the novel Coronavirus. The inclusion of labor protections such as the Davis-Bacon Act and Buy America is imperative to creating jobs and stability in the American economy. Specific legislation includes H.R. 5376 the Build Back Better Act or any tax legislation that includes provisions of H.R. 5376 the Build Back Better Act. The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers lobbied to support the requirement that electrical workers who install Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) are credentialed through the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program (EVITP). EVITP provides the appropriate curriculum to ensure that EVSE is safe and follows all local, state, and federal electrical standards. The IBEW supports the inclusion of this credential in a federal infrastructure package and surface transportation reauthorization, including H.R. 5376 Build Back Better Act or any tax legislation that includes provisions of BBBA. The IBEW also supports the inclusion of EVITP in any electrification of the nations federal fleet and USPS fleet. Specific legislation includes HR 7379 the Military Vehicle Fleet Electrification Act and H.R.6662 the EVs for All Act.
