CAA has lobbied in opposition to S.826, the Safe Skies Act, introduced by Senator Klobuchar. The legislation would apply Part 117 flight and duty time rules to the all-cargo air carriers which is something the industry opposes. We have also met with House offices opposing potential legislation in this area. CAA has also lobbied in opposition to H.R.5170 introduced by Rep. Carbajal on the House side. Mr. Carbajal's legislation mirrors S.826 in the Senate. CAA also lobbied in opposition to potential legislation requiring hardened cockpit doors on all-cargo aircraft. CAA lobbied in opposition to the "Fair and Open Skies Act", H.R.3632 that would impose unilateral restrictions on carriers seeking entry into the US and invite potential retaliation from the European Union and other international partners.
