This bill would aim to reduce agriculture emissions by 50% before 2030 and to achieve net zero emissions by 2040. Asked PA House and Senate Members to support and co-sponsor S.391/H.R.1018, the Protect Farmers from the SEC Act by Senators John Boozman (R-AR) and Mike Braun (R-IN) and Representative Frank Lucas (R-OK-03). This bill would prohibit the SEC from requiring ag producers to report their Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions. The Protect Farmers from the SEC Act was introduced in response to the SEC's proposed climate related disclosures rule (File #: S7-10-22) in March 2022. PFB also lobbied Congressional Members to oppose the SEC's rule. Specifically, PFB asked Congressional Members if they were going to support the rule to at least support a Scope 3 exemption. Had meetings with Senator Fetterman's banking and agriculture staff on consequences of Scope 3 being included in the SEC's proposed climate related disclosures rule. Also, lobbied their office to get the Senator signed onto Senator Tester's (D-MI) addressing these concerns. Encouraged PFB members to complete AFBF's S.391/H.R.1018's advocacy email to send to their legislator asking them for support. Asked PA House and Senate Members to support and co-sponsor S.1016/H.R.1840, the Agriculture Resilience Act by Senators Martin Heinrich (D-NM) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) and Representatives Chellie Pingree (D-ME) and Ann Kuster (D-NH). Encouraged PFB members to complete AFBF's S.391/H.R.1018's advocacy email to send to their legislator asking them for support. Asked PA House and Senate Members to oppose EPA's proposed rule (Docket #: EPA-HQ-OLEM-2019-0341) to designate PFOA and PFOS under the CERLA law or otherwise known as the Superfund law. Signed onto coalition comments regarding EPA's Vulnerable Species Pilot Project.
